Nicki Minaj has achieved a groundbreaking milestone as the first female rapper in 2024 to amass one billion streams on Spotify, further cementing her status in the music industry with the largest debut by a female rapper and the highest ticket sales for her forthcoming Pink Friday 2 world tour. This news was shared by the Juice Pop Twitter account on Wednesday, February 28.
In December 2023, Minaj's recent album launched at the top of the Billboard charts, marking her as the first female rapper with three number-one albums. The album, Pink Friday 2, boasts collaborations with J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Future, and includes popular tracks “FTCU,” “Everybody,” and “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.”
Additionally, Minaj topped the charts in January amidst her rivalry with Megan Thee Stallion, releasing tracks like “Big Foot” in response to Megan’s “HISS.” With added performances, the Pink Friday 2 world tour is set to begin in Oakland, California, in March.
This latest achievement follows a lawsuit initiated against Minaj and her husband by a former security guard, who alleges an assault took place during a backstage interaction in 2019.
