Flo Milli revealed on Thursday (March 14) that R&B singer SZA and rapper Cardi B will make appearances on a new remix of her recent hit, "Never Lose Me." This announcement comes just a day before the launch of her second studio album, "Fine Ho, Stay." Flo and SZA have been hinting at their collaboration on the "Never Lose Me" remix since January. The addition of Cardi B to the track was unveiled as an unexpected delight, highlighted by a shared video on X (Twitter) of the duo lip-syncing to the song's opening in a parking lot, with Flo exclaiming, "POP UP GUESS WHO B-TCH."
Prior to this, the rapper had released two other remixes of "Never Lose Me," featuring Lil Yachty and Bryson Tiller.
"Never Lose Me" has emerged as Flo Milli's most successful song on the Billboard Hot 100 so far, reaching a peak position of No. 18. The track also secured the No. 7 spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 14 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart. In a remarkable achievement in February, she set a record for the longest continuous No. 1 streak (four weeks) on the TikTok Billboard Top 50, a milestone unmatched by any other song since the chart's creation in September 2023.
In a conversation with Billboard about the creation of "Never Lose Me," which incorporates elements from Babyface Ray and 42 Dugg's "Ron Artest," Flo Milli shared insights into her creative process. Despite not being fully engaged due to a long night in the studio working on various aspects of her project, inspiration struck just as she was leaving. "I asked the engineer to play this beat, and that's when I began rapping," she recounted. Flo emphasized her perfectionist approach, especially for the hook of "Never Lose Me," iterating, "I'm such a perfectionist: I'll keep at it until a line sounds exactly as I envision it. I kept repeating, 'You never wanna lose me.' It wasn't about creating a hit; it was personal."
What are your thoughts on Flo Milli teaming up with Cardi B and SZA for the "Never Lose Me" remix? Are you excited to see how they've reimagined the track? And with "Fine Ho, Stay" releasing tomorrow, what are your expectations for the album?
